Vein & Laser Treatment

Namen Podiatry is focused on maintaining your overall systemic health. There are any number of podiatry issues that can benefit from laser treatment as it can be used to stimulate the body’s natural healing response in and around the feet. Depending on wavelength, laser light can increase blood flow and promote healthy cellular turnover for tissue repair. That makes it a viable treatment option for whole host of conditions involving foot trauma and wounds, especially where healing progression has been slow. Poor circulation of oxygen rich blood and nutrients vital to the health and healing of your feet can result in venous insufficiency, wherein the veins in the leg are not working effectively. For those who suffer from this condition Endovenous Laser Treatment may be prescribed by Dr. Namen or a primary care physician. Even if you do not suffer discomfort or pain from varicose or spider veins, doesn’t mean symptoms from a venous insufficiency could develop or become a problem. Besides laser treatment, the team and Namen Podiatry can also offer Sclerotherapy and surgical Microphlebectomy as options in some cases. No matter what your diagnosis and treatment plan may be, the team at Namen Podiatry and Jacksonville Laserderm can help!

If your varicose veins are swollen/inflamed, bulging, or painfully sore, your physician or healthcare provider might suggest laser surgery for treatment. Even if they are not a serious health problem for you, you may just not like how they look. For some, Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) for varicose veins is the non-surgical office procedure of choice.

The procedure typically takes less than an hour to perform and has minimal down/recovery time. While all surgeries/treatments carry some risk, the adverse effects of varicose vein surgery are minimized through meticulous before and after treatment care. Such risks can include infection, bleeding/bruising, nerve damage/sensitivity, inflammation, blood clotting, changes in skin color, burns and pain at the treatment site.

Namen Podiatry offers patients a safe and effective procedure to target venous insufficiency and vessel malformation using Sclerotherapy. In this procedure, Dr. Namen uses an ultrasound to map the patient’s unique course of treatment, then using a very-fine needle makes a series of strategic injections targeting spider veins with a chemical solution combined with lidocaine. Together, these agents painlessly and effectively collapse the affected veins allowing them to shrink and be naturally absorbed back into the body. Treatment with Sclerotherapy is pain free and can take anywhere between three to six sessions for achieve optimal results.

In some cases, ambulatory phlebectomy also known as microphlebectomy is a mini-surgical treatment used as an alternative to sclerotherapy to remove unsightly veins. Performed under local anesthetic, this procedure involves a small incision and removal of the problem veins altogether rather than using a needle and collapsing the vein chemically. Like sclerotherapy, the patient’s veins are mapped out using ultrasound ahead of treatment for accuracy. This procedure affords patients suffering with venous insufficiency on a larger scale a more viable treatment, semi-surgical option without suturing.
